Plug-o-rama!

October 5, 2013

Final week prior to our October 12th gig at Double Bay Live! Are we rehearsing up a storm? No we are not.

Some of us are at work, some are knocking about in Sydney, two thirds of us seem to have some jaunty south coast lifestylin' happening! It may look like this:

I mean, I'm pretty sure they are all topless down there. At least Craig will be.

I know what I'm doing. Lining up Consorts' songs on my playlist, rehearsing phrasing with myself, watching Stonehenge by Ylvis on youtube and laughing my arse off, mentally debating outfits, generally spending every waking minute living and breathing next Saturday's gig.

Oh, and playing ukulele, because have I mentioned there's a bit of punk uke happening at the PBC in Brighton St, Petersham around 5pm on Friday night? Oh, I haven't? Well, feel free to come see what I do when I'm not in a gen-you-wine rock band. Anyway, enough plugging, here are the links:

The Consorts hit Double Bay - Saturday 12th October from 11am - we are live at 12:30

Just heard there is a sausage sizzle at this one! Because THAT'S HOW WE ROLL!

And some punk ukulele (yes, electrified, you know you want to hear how punk a uke can be)

PBC Convene on the Green - Friday 11th October from 5pm - no idea when the ukes kick off

Reminiscing

September 28, 2013

Leon, our keyboard player and general go-to man for all things sound related, tells me I should upload some of the recordings from our Hawks Nest sessions. Fine, fine, I will do so, please have a look to your right to listen to some TOP TRACKS listed under "Hawks Nest Sessions".

I hasten to set the scene so our many, many, quality listeners have the full context.

Picture this, if you will - a guitarist, a bass player and a singer stuffed into an old, borrowed car with much musical gear (the singer has of course been relegated to the back seat, and can barely fit her legs in the car). It's a Friday night, and they've been let out of school to head to a tiny seaside hamlet for a weekend's worth of trying to lay down some tracks. There is a van, somewhere out in the darkness, containing every piece of recording equipment they could beg, borrow or hire, and also Leon and the drummer.

Three hours later, they roll up to Hawks Nest. It looks like this:

Only darker. Anyway, drinks are had, as it's Friday night and they're at the beach! Some have more drinks than others. The singer has a larger number than necessary.

Time passed. The next morning dawned unrelentingly, and despite a morning swim and lots of water, things were looking very shaky from a number of angles. Mutterings were heard, mostly of the "time's awasting, you fools" variety .

BUT like the champions we are (and yes I know I'm jumping around in both perspective and time frame, but hey, I'm not a writer) we knuckled down, and produced ourselves some tracks. A special thanks is necessary to the cafe at Hawks Nest for providing quality sustenance. Another special thanks to Leon who did all the mixing and re-recording etc. A final special thanks to vodka, for that "wow, my night was big" effect in the vocals.

Double Bay Live!!

September 25, 2013

So excited to announce we are playing Double Bay Live on October 12th!

We will be rocking out with a pile of other musicians in gorgeous Guilfoyle Park, Double Bay, an al fresco venue perfectly suited to picnics, cowboy hats, mexican beer, possibly mexican tequila, who is to say? Bring an esky, bring your sunglasses, bring the kids if you can't palm them off, this is an all ages gig.
